Ellen Howat (she/her), M.A.Ed., LPCC

​

Ellen is committed to fostering a compassionate and supportive environment for clients to achieve their goals and recognize their inherent resiliency.  She has a passion for meeting clients wherever they are on their journey and believes every individual has the ability to heal.  She focuses on forming a collaborative relationship to help meet each individual’s needs while bringing empathy, warmth, trustworthiness, non-judgement, and creativity to every session.

 

Ellen is experienced in working with adult clients of all ages struggling from complex trauma and addictions, as well as anxiety, depression, chronic pain, issues faced by the LGBTQIA+ community, panic, phobias, PTSD, grief and loss, stage of life changes, and chronic illness.  She helps clients navigate these challenges with evidenced based practices including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).  Ellen is an affirming and trauma-informed therapist who recognizes that every person deserves to live a full and happy life.

 

Ellen is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the state of Ohio and received her masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Akron and her undergraduate degree from the Cleveland Institute of Art.  

 

Ellen is currently available for in-person and virtual appointments, and she would be honored to support you on your journey to self-understanding and wellbeing.
