Shamanic Journeying: A Path to Healing and Transformation

Shamanic Journeying is an ancient spiritual practice, believed to be over 100,000 years old, that transcends ordinary reality. By entering an altered state of consciousness, individuals connect with spirit realms to gain insight, receive healing, and seek guidance. Once practiced by all our ancestors, shamanism holds deep cultural significance, bridging us to the wisdom of the past while offering transformative potential for the present.  Shamanism is not a religion; it is a way of being and a way of connecting with everything around us.

 Benefits of Shamanic Journeying

- Promotes emotional healing and resilience.

- Connects us to our inner wisdom

- Facilitates self-discovery and personal insight.

- Provides tools to release stored trauma and align intentions with life’s path.

What Shamanic Journeying is NOT

-Shamanic journeying is not the same as mental health counseling. I do not offer advice or counsel, rather, I assist you in accessing your own inner wisdom and capacity for healing.

-While Shamanic Journeying sometimes utilizes the spirit of plant medicine to aide in accessing the non-ordinary realms, I do not use or offer psycho-active plant medicine for shamanic journeys.

What to Bring

 - An eye covering to block distractions.
- A journal to document insights afterward.
- Blankets, comfort items, or anything with sentimental significance (recommended but not required)

Physical Requirements
Participants can engage in the journey in any way that feels natural—lying on the floor, sitting, or even moving or dancing, if called to do so.

Cultural Respect and Ethical Practice Statement

This service honors the traditions of shamanism, striving to remain deeply respectful of its origins. By maintaining ethical standards, we ensure that this offering preserves, respects, and honors the sacred intent of our ancestors' spiritual legacy.

 - Sessions begin with the creation of a sacred space, including smudging with incense, calling upon spirit allies, and setting personal intentions.

-Brief education regarding shamanism and the shamanic journey is provided.
-Through rhythmic drumming and optional breathwork, you’ll enter a trance-like state and explore "non-ordinary reality" while being fully supported by your practitioner.

-At the conclusion of your journey, you will engage in brief written reflection and be provided a space for processing with your practitioner, if needed.

CACAO Circle

A Journey of Heart-Opening Connection

Our Cacao Circle combines ancient traditions with modern mindfulness practices. We begin by creating a sacred environment with smudge incense and spirit blessings to set a harmonious and protective tone. Participants will sit in a circle and while ingesting their individually prepared cacao, share their intentions, and open their hearts to its transformative power.  With the effects of the cacao beginning to take place, we will engage in brief guided meditation to awaken and connect with our felt sensations, followed by a guided meditation, tailored to the identified intentions of the group. Gentle movement or breathing exercises may also be incorporated for deeper meditation and connection. At the conclusion of our meditation, we will engage in a brief reflective writing exercise and sharing of our experience before closing our circle with gratitude.

Important Health Considerations
Ceremonial grade cacao is not psychoactive and does not have drug-like effects. It is naturally bitter due to its unprocessed nature; this is part of its authenticity and purity. It is a plant medicine that is generally safe for most people, however, there are some health considerations for individuals who struggle with the conditions below:

 -diagnosed or suspected heart conditions
-severe anxiety
-sensitivity to stimulants such as caffeine
- a history of experiencing headache or migraine after ingesting chocolate
-gastrointestinal issues such as GERD or IBS, as cacao can cause gastrointestinal upset in the same way that caffeine does.
-mental health disorders that result in the usage of antidepressants or medications affecting serotonin, as cacao can influence serotonin uptake
If you struggle with anything listed above or are unsure if cacao is right for you, you should consult a healthcare provider before consuming cacao.

What to Bring
- An eye covering for focus.
- A journal to document reflections.
- Blankets, oils, or sentimental items for support (optional).

Cultural Respect and Ethical Practice Statement
This wellness offering honors Cacao as an ancient plant medicine. Cacao is not just a food or drink; it holds immense spiritual and cultural importance for Mesoamerican civilizations. We acknowledge the history and impacts of the colonization associated with cacao and other plant medicines, striving to approach cacao circles with respectful and humble intentions, recognizing its sacred nature. Cacao used in our circles comes from sources that prioritize ethical and sustainable practices and that respect the cultures where cacao is grown.
